Excellent album by an excellent band AFI's sound has changed and progressed over the years. While some think that's a bad thing and that the band is spiraling downward, others like myself can see the growth and maturity in their work. Sing The Sorrow is an excellent album - - the typical darker lyrics have turned even more beautiful than before, and they are sure to make you stop and think.

Davey Havok's way with words is grand. Jade's guitar work reached an all new level with this album. His talent stands out among other records of 2003. Hunter's bass is exquisite, and Adam's drumming is nothing short of perfect. My favorite songs on the album are Dancing Through Sunday, This Celluloid Dream. But home is nowhere, and This Time Imperfect (which is a hidden track). The lyrics in This Time Imperfect are exceptionally beautiful.

Some songs will make you dance, some will make you cry, but they'll all make you think. The definitive AFI album I have been listening to AFI since 'Answer That and Stay Fashionable' and had always loved their unique brand of 'Misfits meets The Cure' darkly emotive punk rock. They always stood out to me as more than just another California underground band, and their development is clear throughout the tenure of their decade-strong career. This album was the one that set them far apart from their peers in my opinion, their diversity glaringly apparent in every track of this CD. AFI's maturity shows - Davey's haunting vocals ranging from a soft whisper to that infamous gutteral scream that only he can pull off with such intensity and Jade Puget's note-perfect and lightning speed solos on tracks like 'Dancing Through Sunday' are more Steve Vai than The Ramones.

How many other California punk bands can pull of a soulful acoustic melody like 'The Leaving Song'? There are even hints of electronica in 'Death Of Seasons' - light years ahead of the current emo and 'nu-rave' trends of mixing the genres. Butch Vig's production skills shine through - his talent for taking even the most abrasive and inaccessible rock and producing a hit single with near-pop sensibilities is unmistakable during tracks like 'Girls Not Grey' and 'Siver and Cold'. This is not to say AFI have 'sold out' - they have simply progressed and become the band they were always meant to be. Overall, a fantastic album which will have you skipping straight back to the start to listen again after every play, and a perfect prelude to their latest offering, 'Decemberunderground'.

As we all form one dark flame. This album is a masterpiece. As an avid AFI fan, I have heard AFI progress over the years. This is my favourite AFI album by far, and is definitely in my 'Top 5 favourite albums of all time' list.

The gang vocals in the majority of the album automatically make you feel like part of a group, and like you belong.

There's a certain 'spooky' feel to Miseria Cantare which I absolutely love. It's like a group all coming together as one.

And as the vocals kick in ('Love your hate, your faith lost, you are now one of us'), a strength washes over you. You really do feel as though you are part of something One word: amazing. This album is slightly more 'gothic' in comparison to AFI's other albums, but it's a stunner. It definitely belongs in your collection.
