Amiga Hdf Games
The Amiga games market (which was the market) basically collapsed with Commodore in 1994. I really wonder who is buying the PowerPC based, vastly overpriced new hardware? For now, I’m relying on good old-fashioned torrent sites for my data. 3 thoughts on “amiga: blank hdf images”. Contactez notre partenaire pour une machine d'arcade. Hi, After much faffing around, I've finally got my PC-Amiga parallel connection working (if I use the 'normal' pc2amiga.exe, I get loads of packet errors, but if I use the debug version, it all works perfectly?!?). Anywho, I've got hold of some HDF games, and I tried copying them across and using XFS to mount them, but couldn't figure out how to do it (is it me, or are the help guides for Amiga software written with the assumption that the end-user knows the Amiga inside-out?!). So, I ended up using an app on my PC (adfview) to copy the contents of a HDF file into a folder. After copying the whole folder to my Amiga, I discovered that some games don't have an icon. You need to 'View -> All files' then find the file that runs the game (this also means that double-clicking the icon brings up the 'Execute Command' box - most annoying).
Are icons contained in.info files? If someone could explain how to create icons, or just explain how to use XFS, it'd be realy helpful. (oh, another thing I noticed is that quite a few of the HDF games I've got require some fastRAM (0.5Mb upwards). Is this a common requirement of HD installed games?) And one last thing, if I download a few HDF files from tomtoms, do I need WHDload to use them, or are they already setup/modified? Any help would be greatly appreciated! .HDF files are UAE hardfile images.

They are probably designed to autoboot. To find which program file to run look for an s/startup-sequence file and pop it up in MultiView or EditPad (or whatever text viewer/editor you choose).
Icons are contained in.info files and you can go to sys:tools/iconedit to create an icon for your file. Note, however, that programs launched from Workbench are treated differently than programs launched from startup-sequence so you may have to make a project icon and copy the startup-sequence file to the root directory. Make a PROJECT icon for it and when you leave IconEdit click the icon once and select Info from the File menu. From here type 'IconX' into default tool and save the file. I hope that gets you started.

Hi, I’ve watch the Kyland K and Patton Plays videos along with reading qclart’s tutorial but I think I’m stuck right at the beginning. Before I go further you guys are awesome! Thanks for all your work I’ve gotten other cores to work with your great videos! I purchased Amiga Forever Pro so I could get a copy of each rom. But the rom names in the Amiga Forever installation are different.
Can anyone explain to me which one matches the ones from qclarts written tutorial. I did “find” some roms on the internet but with those ones I was able to get a adf game to work but not a hdf one. I kept getting a hd1 missing.
I even tried setting hd0 from with paue to my whdl file with the roms but no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! There's some extra steps if you're using the Kickstarts from the Amiga Forever installation.

First of all here's the filename mapping - Amiga Forever Name Re-name to amiga-os-310-a600.rom kick31.rom amiga-os-130.rom kick34005.A500 amiga-os-204 kick37175.A500 amiga-os-310-a1200.rom kick40068.A1200 Very Important - You will also need the rom.key file that can be found in the same folder as your Amiga Forever Kickstarts. Transfer the rom.key file to you BIOS folder. When configuring your WHDLoad.hdf file make sure you transfer a copy of the rom.key file to the same devs/kickstarts folder with the rest of the kickstarts. Did roy orbison sing wicked game.
