Because I felt the Dillion neck was robbing the guitar of sustain. Rated the top UFO Videos from around the world Dillion Electric Guitars, Made in.
Wondering if anyone has experience with Dillion guitars USA. I searched and there are some old threads, but nothing recent. I saw they had a Moderne copy and pinged Dillion about it, and he connected me with a dealer in NC. I bought the guitar from him. He is an Ebay dealer but we didn't do the deal on Ebay. I got the guitar and at first it seemed ok but when I took it to my guitar guy for a setup he pointed out a portion of the neck had a large amount of wood filler.
The volute was obviously built up with it, the grain disappeared about 4 inches below the volute and reappeared about 2 inches above the nut. I contacted the dealer and he said to send it back for another one, more were on order and would be in on 3/5. That was almost two weeks ago.
So I made contact with him last night and he said the guitars were in New York and it would be 10 days before they arrived and could be shipped to me. I don't think he is a crook but I do think he is being a little cagey. Something similar happened when he received payment: First he said he had the guitar, then when I asked if he received payment, he said yes but he didn't actually have the guitar, he had 'Sent it back to Dillion for a string change and setup', which was hogwash because when I received the guitar it obviously had not be touched since it left the factory in Korea.
Ultraedit 25 keygen. It took several more days to get the guitar, and then ship it to me. I have been copying Dillion on all the emails but haven't heard a peep out of him.
I'm supposed to ship the guitar back to him, not the dealer. All of this doesn't instill me with inspiration to buy another Dillion, too bad because I was wanting one of their Brian May copies. I know of all the hoo-ha about the USA vs Canadian Dillions, this guitar seems typical of foreign made guitars but does have Wilkinson hardware and pickups, it sounds pretty good. If it weren't for the wood filler issue and all the delay back and forth it would be ok. That's a shame. My experience with Dillion has been the exact opposite. I've played two of them, the Mosrite copy (owned this one) and a Dan Electro copy (That was actually a one off prototype and never went into production, my friend owns this one).
My Mosrite clone was my workhorse guitar for 3 years or so. It's been tossed into crowds, dragged against the ground, slammed into cymbals and generally beaten to hell and back, but has never given me any issues whatsoever. The only exception being a broken Bigsby (entirely my fault, see above), to which I emailed Dillion himself and he sent me a replacement for $20 no questions asked. I also contacted him for more info about the Dan Electro copy and he replied with full back story and requested I sent him photos because he didn't even realize the guitar still existed.
Extremely nice guy. All around, I'd recommend a Dillion to ANYONE looking for a good, solid cheap guitar.
I'm sorry to hear your experience has been so different, hopefully yours is the exception. Good luck getting everything sorted out! I sent the guitar back and got a refund.
They were willing to replace it but they had none in stock and it would have been two or three weeks before the next shipment arrived from Korea. I felt uncomfortable about the whole deal so I got my money back. I really wanted a Moderne style guitar but this guitar didn't really grab me. Dillion necks are all the same width, no matter what model: 1 11/16', which is too wide for me.
It just felt weird. Also a $500 guitar should not have wood filler or other body issues. It had very poor sustain and I think the wood filler issue contributed to that.

The hardware and pickups were good though. There's a guy selling one on ebay (Not the guy I did business with) claiming the bodies are made in Korea and the rest is 'assembled in USA', which is hogwash. The owner John Dillion himself told me my replacement guitar was coming from Korea to New York, and had to wait for customs clearance. I looked at a Dean Cadillac 1980, the black beauty with gold hardware, and it is a much better guitar. I'm going to go for that. A lot of people say they love their Dillions, good on them but apparently they are not for me.
