My system is running Windows 7 and Office 2007. I normally have Outlook running in the system tray. When I shut my system down with Outlook running, on the next boot the action center reports that 'Windows was not shut down properly' and the event log has an entry that 'the previous system shutdown was unexpected'. If I shut Outlook down manually neither of these appear, but if I do that every now and then I get a message that my.pst file was not closed properly.
