Voodoo47:, it now requires original CD or GOG classic data to work. Once the data is provided, a full copy of SSP will be spawned on your hard drive (same location as the patcher). This copy is identical to what has been available before the full version had to be removed. No need to download/use this if you are running Enhanced, obviously. Is there any way to specify an existing SSP portable installation rather than the GOG classic version installation? Only I already have SSP 1.2.2 ready but would like to update to 1.2.3 and would rather not go through installing the GOG classic version just to get the data files that I've already got in 1.2.2. Voodoo47: as long as you feed the tool with CD data, a valid 1.2.3 install will be created.

The tool itself has no way of knowing whether you are using a real CD, GOG classic, a (un)zipped backup of the cd that you've made 20 years ago or any other source, but do note that unless you have legally purchased the game as some point, you are infringing copyright. Yep, just found out I could specify the existing SSP installation's data folder and the new SSPTool then created a new SSP with version 1.2.3. Worked great.

Oh, and I own SS1 here on GOG. Been playing the SSE version, so SSP is obsolete now (so long as SSE continues to work), but I want to keep SSP as a DOSBox version rather than using the GOG SS Classic one, so that should I ever want (or need) to play it in DOSBox I still have that option.

Voodoo47: pretty sure. I think I'll hold off downloading it for now because 19 detections is a bit much for my liking. Just to be on the safe side. Oni crack for xp.

In the meantime I may as well make an erroneous detection submission to my anti virus vendor. It might be a good idea if the people behind SS Portable do the same if these detections are indeed false. I have a question: I have SS Enhanced. The reason I was going to try SS Portable was because I'm not too satisfied with the music in SS Enhanced, even with added sound fonts, so I'm curious as to whether SS Portable has the exact same sound as Enhanced? Or, given it uses the DOSBox SS Classic data, the sound will work more like that version (which, IMO sounds better than Enhanced for some reason, even with General Midi).
