Act 2 Spring elves clothe the woods and mountain sides in a green blanket. But from the mountains the giants send their envoys with chill and storms, and chase away the vernal elves. Everything begins to freeze. Spirits rise from the fjords and set the cold to flight. Again all is dressed in green. Flowers appear. All stands in silent adornment.
The hill-creatures come out in ceremonious dance, and all the animals join in. Then the poet god Brage arrives and in song declares that summer is on its way.

Behind come the human creatures. Baldur, the sun god, arrives dancing. All are spellbound. Entranced they see the graceful figure of the sun god and his divine dance. Baldur blesses the summer. All at once Hod and other blind people appear on the scene and break into dance, neither seeing nor paying heed to anything. With brute force they flail about, destroying everything they touch.
Baldur and the others disperse in dread. Among the blind multitude they can do nothing. Hod and the other blind folk try to join the dance, but merely cause total confusion. Posts: 616 Joined: Tue Dec 15, 2009 1:10 am Location: RVA.
I've noticed there is no dedicated thread for this brilliant artist, in my view one of the greatest composers of our times. Having gone through some health issues not only he came back last year with an exceptional album ('async') but a film about his creative process ('Coda') is being screened on festivals around the world getting very positive reviews.
From the Yellow Magic Orchestra to his Soundtrack work to his experimental music with David Sylvia or Alva Noto to establishing Commons lets talk about the music of this major artist of our times. Ryuichi is a great hero of mine. I've followed his work since the early 80s and had a blast collecting his releases when I lived in Japan from the mid-80s to early 90s. Can't wait for the new doc, of course, but here's an old favorite- a doc filmed by a French crew (subtitled) during the Ongaku Zukan era (includes clips from Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence with Bowie). I was happy to see him perform a couple of times (as well as YMO, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Sylvian), and I'm relieved that his treatment went well for throat cancer.
Hopefully more gigs to come! Ryuichi is a great hero of mine.
